Here is a tweet I made yesterday
“Flippa is the perfect example of owners that stumbled onto something that worked but then decided they didn’t care. The best thing they could do is sell it to someone that does”
I promote domains for people that still use Flippa. They actually do OK at auction but ONLY because they are seen somewhere else. Because nobody goes to Flippa anymore. Partially because they reset everyone’s password. Partially because the emails don’t come to half the people to reset passwords or let you start an auction. Partially because the owners have irons in other fires so they are letting this fire burn out and disappear. Partially because they make you log in before you can see the details of an auction now.
Flippa ruined itself. It could have been a major player. It WAS a major player when Kevin Fink ran it. But he got so tired of fighting owners and management who asked for more but gave him less. I really do hope they sell off the domain auction side. Who do you think should buy it?

IPA Name of the Day: ProudMan.com Not a lot to choose from today. I’d still buy this because I am.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
NameJet is saying it’s SuperGrow.comt. Made me check if there’s a .comt extension in existence 🙂
It is SuperGrow. I’m out running and can’t seem to fix link on phone
Fixed.
I just don’t really get what Flippa does that makes them the leader in any category. For domain names they’re one of the worst options.
I have been creating and selling online businesses/sites for years. There are simply better places to do that than Flippa as well. One of the main ones is Empire Flippers if anyone is wondering. Empire Flippers for example is 1000x more secure and vetted properly unlike what Flippa does where people are buying scam sites with fake earnings some of the time. On top of that they handle the transfer of the site and get a revenue guarantee on the first month or the site is returned if it is delivering the results that were claimed/verified prior to the sale. It takes so much of the risk out of the equation where Flippa doesn’t do this. I personally have no desire to ever use or deal with them again.
I have had mixed results with Flippa with some success but it was own outbound that resulted in a buyer. New ownership could do wonders.
LiveWell.com final price did very well I’m sure. Great name and more and more people are focusing on Quality of Life/Living.
I own PurestLiving.com which gets a lot of interest but not quite the same price level!
Great quote today from Warren too.
Here’s to a great week ahead for everybody.
Many thanks for your (and Ike and Travis) continued dedication Shane.
I almost bought Franny dot com awhile back but then saw that Frannie is the popular spelling for a girl. The spelling Franny is mostly used as short for Francis. Still a pretty good domain but I think it might be hard for this domain to sell for a lot as a female oriented brand.
