One of the hardest things to do is step up. What I mean by step up is when you work hard to be the best in your field but then you have to move up a level. You go from being one of the best where life is generally easy because you can work hard and know that each day you’re going to do well. But then you move up in class and you aren’t the top dog anymore. All the hard work of before is now the base but it’s not enough.
I say this because I watch my daughter running in college and I am proud of not her success on the track, but her ability to learn what’s its like to run from the back of the pack. She went from always being in the lead group to having to now working tirelessly just to stay with the team on training runs. Yet she loves every day. It’s what she’s always wanted. To be around people that love the same things as her. That take her craft seriously and put in the work every day. Because that’s what she has always done. They’re just on the next level of talent. The ACC championships were this weekend and her friends left to run. She wasn’t upset that she wasn’t going. Its not her time. But her goal is to train and work so that one day it will be. Those aren’t my words but hers. That’s where my pride comes in.
You don’t get jealous of those that have more success than you. You watch and learn. You congratulate them and enjoy the company of someone else that enjoys the same things as you. Hard work, effort, and the company of those that are successful doesn’t guarantee success, but it sure gives you a higher chance. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD continue writing each day.
