I’ve told the story a million times. My first TRAFFIC/Domain Conference I was nervous. I went to Las Vegas and didn’t know a soul. I just went and hoped I would learn something about domains and meet some people. The “regulars” all sat together, ate together, talked together. Maya Angelou said “You may not remember what they said but you will always remember how they made you feel” I remember how many made me feel like an outside but more importantly I will remember a group of men that made me feel part of the community and took me in to the industry that I love today. Those men were Oscar Correa, Ron Wells, Patrick Ruddell, Morgan Linton, and Adam Strong. I will forever be grateful to all of them for being so nice to someone they just met.
So when I found out from Oscar that Ron was having a tough battle with Covid I thought it was something that was just your typical he’s tested positive but OK thing. It turns out he has been hospitalized for 6 weeks and is fighting a tough fight. He’s been intubated for weeks and is in a doctor induced coma to keep him rested.
Ron has done well but he is also self employed and the two month of no income for his family and the mounting hospital bills is putting a burden on his family. I credit Ron for where I am today and I’m sure he showed the same kindness to many others that crossed his path. He really is the gentle giant. Soft spoken but always is the center of attention in a room because of his size. Every where I go in Vegas they think he is my bodyguard. But now we need to protect him and his family. I’ve only asked for donations once here. The last was to help young kids in the hospitals and athletes in Africa. This is closer to home. This is a friend and a fellow domain investor. A domain investor that paved the way for all of us to make some extra money all the way up to a good living in domain investing. Do what you can but definitely keep him in your thoughts.
