Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday April 25th, 2019

Escrow.com

I literally can’t get anything I want at Godaddy auctions for under $1000 any more.  It’s gotten a bit crazy.  It’s something I always knew would happen and in many cases I’m glad domains are at the point where most good names are in the four figure marks.  It means the overall dot com market is maturing and the scarcity of quality is increasing.  All boats rise.

A few names I’ve missed over the last few weeks

Fabble.com  $1820

GoJoe.com  $1050

Strawberries.org  $2563

UniqueWood.com  $634

Of course I’ve bid on other names but they were all names I thought I would get for much less.  Maybe Strawberries.org was expected, but I could have gotten a name like Fabble for $500 and definitely under $1000 until very recently.  Names in that style have been the backbone of my portfolio for a decade.  At those prices I would need to get $10K to make it worth.  That changes how my future portfolio will be built.  I’m not exactly sure what my strategy is but I can see all strategies are going to be pretty expensive.   Hear are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on

Domain of the Day:  BrandAssist.com  Perfect name for a marketing/advertising company

Quote of the Day:  “A year from now you will wish you had started today”

Namejet, Sedo, and other Names Up for Auction

Actualized.com    Met reserve and will sell.  You know its a good name when Media Options wants it

Qete.com   Met reserve at $270.  Don’t see many CVCV.com for under $800

Buqe.com  Another lower quality CVCV and its even less that then above .  Even lower quality is still a good name to own IMO

Bootcamp.com   I think this one will end up meeting reserve.   I would think a VC company would love this

Feff.com  Other than having autocorrect change this to Jeff every time, I think this is a good name if you get it under $700

Jelm.com  Another nice 4L that’s met reserve at $420

SuccessfulThinking.com  It all starts with positive thoughts

SellingDomainNames.com   I figure someone here will want this

3dMachine.com    3D printing is as popular as ever.  Just not the domains so you may get a bargain

SleepShop.com  You spend more time sleeping than any one activity

LunaFarm.com  Upgrade name for several companies and a cool name by itself

Godaddy Domains With Multiple Bids

BettingClub.com   BetClub would be the killer name but this one is on point as well

TennisCamp.com   Plenty of tennis camps around the world. Interesting to see if they would brand using this generic

BPPW.com   Great letters.  W for worldwide

BerrySweet.com  I don’t hold back names off the list very often.  I really liked this one and thought about not putting it on.

APlusK.com  Best known for being Ashton Kutcher’s twitter handle

Gun.biz  Not many bizes bigger than this one

Containers.net  Big enough keyword to make the net valuable

Intelligrow.com  Lots of uses but the canna or gardening industry would be a great fit

StopDrugs.com  Not quite as powerful of a term as back in the 80s

Gourmed.com  Not a real word….I think, but the foodies will like it

OrganicFlowers.com   People care about organic although as an insider its super easy to grow organic flowers.  Its the foliage part that is hard to keep looking good without chemicals

BGA.net  Solid letters.   This could break $1k

WeekendProject.com  Every working person has one of these every week

SalesPromotion.com   Godaddy thinks this is the most valuable name on the board

Godaddy Domains With One Or No Bids

DrSound.com    Sounds like a store Vince Vaughn would open up in Old School

Fitka.com   Fitness brand all the way

RosaRosa.com    I think fashion or wine when I see this one

Style.biz     A couple big .biz dropping on today’s list

Camoa.com    Nice 5L with only one bid

Taxi.biz   This is the other one

VeganBrands.com   You know how much I like Vegan.   Here is the mother ship domain of your vegan empire

MobileBees.com   You get $400 a hive to bring your bees in to pollinate a crop

RUOrganic.com     I try

Ivene.com         I think its a name.  Probably is

LunarHill.com  I think its a cool sounding brand for under $50

  1. The outlay and expected return in a reasonable amount of time for such names, is going to take a bit of end user luck, if you go thru a dry spell which would be likely given you need a higher asking price, well I think building a portfolio at such prices if the economy turns red you would be in trouble a few years down the road. All decent names for sure, just the higher you pay, the more end users you need to go thru to get your price, and sometimes they just never show up. You are seeing more daily sales from dealer platforms on the top ten then from sedo etc…

The struggle is real, and even negotiated sales fall thru, there is nothing easy about this industry from legal threats, to increased renewal prices, to higher platform commissions, it takes a lot of knowledge, and capital, and a bit of luck to make it all work. Sometimes it looks like your making money for a few weeks, until renewal time, and then your back to square 1.

  2. Now that the bidder ids are being made public, I would love to do some backtracking and see who’s winning these names at these prices.

Some of these auctions are just not making any financial sense to me. Is there a Saudi prince out there with unlimited funds that recently got into domaining? Jobsnap .com for 3300… jobwork .com for 10k … Without doing the research on backlink profiles, these prices don’t add up.

Anyway, I’m just going to be careful where I pick my battles and be happy when stuff slips through the cracks and score something like mebbe .com on the drop for $69

  3. Crazy prices, indeed. I was bidding on botlab.com couple of days ago, and I gave up at $5,800. Before I went into bidding war I was pretty sure I can win it for under 3K… Nope, not even close.

    1. Yes, when you are buying such 2 keyword .coms wholesale well over $5k, well now your buyer has to most likely deal with wires transfer, as cc options are out if you want to make a profit. Tough break I have heard of Chinese buyers polling funds, so maybe these are the crazies who never stop bidding. It’s almost like a game who wants to bid more, because they never stop bidding. Great name, but you had no choice but to pull back.

      1. Just for the record, I personally don’t think 5k+ is a sane wholesale price for this domain. Looking back I think it wasn’t smart to bid that high. Great name but margins would be not so great, I guess.
