Should you pay extra for a domain sales site or auction house to promote your name? Nobody is asking for my advice but you are going to get it anyway. For instant on Flippa. They used to and still may have a package that lets you pay extra for showcasing your name. I believe they will put it on a hot list or send it out in a newsletter for a fee. Why would I pay Flippa a fee when they can’t even get the regular old search correct?
Go look for most active domains. That should be an easy search. Toggle “most active” and it should give you domains with the most bids. It does but 25% of them have ended. And ended a long time ago. Your name has little to no chance of making it to the top if you’re fighting against old auctions. I could give you a ton more examples of how bad the search is. But the point is you should only ever pay for added value. And added means existing value is there to be added to. There is a reason people pay us to list names here. One of them is that the auction houses haven’t figured out how to single out a name and give it extra value. Most haven’t even figured out how to put out a good search. As a matter of fact pretty much everyone has created their own program or uses a third party auction search program to sort through the list because it has much more information about the domain to use to sort. Age, length, taken in other tlds, CPC, number of bids. Dozens of more parameters. If they really want to help you out, make it easier to find your name on their site. Here are today’s names. Flippa is a complete disaster in terms of a domain marketplace. I can’t stand the upfront listing fees too honestly. I’d much rather promote my names here and pay an upfront fee where people would actually see them. They’re competing with other places like afternic, sedo, godaddy, ect where the fees only come when they sell. It’s just not a good model and their search features suck.
Great list of names today. Will be bidding on several of them. Love it!
Some great names coming up. Thanks for your lists Shane. Also I’m a little bored right now and thought I’d add another “Tom” to the comment section.
Thanks Tom, Tom, Tomas for the kind words.
