I’ve always realized there are some stupid ass people in the world because I read twitter. But I generally don’t come face to face with any of them. Every once in a while I’ll get a customer that will tell me to not send a Mexican or a Black person to their house because he’s not willing to pay $55 an hour for one of “those guys”. I don’t get mad anymore, I just refund their money and say that we’re probably not the company for them.
I got my first racist employee who told me they refused to take direction from a Mexican. He didn’t care who they were but he was better than any of them so no way he was going to be told what to do by them. This was despite the person having many more years of experience, incredible feedback from customers, and was second generation. He was born in the US just like him. It just reminds me that there are thoughts and ideas that are hidden inside people until they aren’t. The easiest way to find a racist is to put someone that they don’t like as their superior. That tends to bring it out.
Other than being totally wrong, is it is actually illegal for me to even have a racist on staff. Once I find out about it I have to protect the rest of the employees and provide them with a fair workplace. I can’t believe people wouldn’t know its an instant firing. I could easily get sued if I knew about it and allowed someone to say or do things racist in nature. Fortunately I keep others in the room when I have a discussion with an employee that is sensitive. I don’t want a he said/she said moments. In this case, the others in the room all did the “Damnnnnnnn, did he say what I just thought he said?” Just shook my head in disbelief.
Another reminder that while you have to have some trust in doing business with people, you also have to remember that you truly don’t know someone. There are so many things that go on at home, go on in their head, that you may never know about it. Until you do

If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Maybe a good time to stop voting for Jim Jordan then
Mike,
I had to look up Jim Jordan. I can barely keep up with the trash that is Illinois politics
There is a difference between nationalities, cultures and races. Being a Mexican, is as much a race, as is being Dutch. The majority of differences are cultural and somehow these are being labeled as racist. Prejudice is prejudice, and education is the key to eliminating such ignoble behaviour.
Robin,
Put any label you want but you are right, education is where it starts. And much of it starts at home. People aren’t born with prejudice. It’s developed and taught
