I turn 50 in the next few days and it’s hard not to reflect on times gone by. Most people say that times goes by fast but to me there have been so many life defining moments that have taken place over the years, I feel like its gone by just slow enough for me to enjoy it. I look back and feel like my best days are now. The early years were work. Growing up was a learning process. Sure we got to play and not any real responsibilities, but I just wasn’t mature enough to take it in. Now I am. I also had anxiety as a kid. Not any more than an average kid. I just have pretty much zero now. I don’t worry about making friends, getting good grades, how many goals I scored, trying to impress girls. I’ve built a world of emotional support, and financial security that I get to live the second half of my life (I hope) in a beautiful state. I get to help others in ways that others helped me. I get to watch my child go through the same things that I did but show them that the end result is worth the hard work. That the hard work never ends but you work for yourself and get to keep the rewards. Not just financial. Relationships, your fitness and health, your career. They all take work from start to finish. Let them go stale and just like an old bicycle in the garage. It still works but it’s not going to be as useful and as fast as one that is maintained.
I’ve said this a million times but domain investing was the icing on my finances. I wanted to do more, travel more, have a few nice things but always felt guilty buying them out of my nursery check. I always felt like that money should go to my wife and invest it for the future. Not spend it on frivolous things. Turned out that was the best move. But then domain investing came in and allowed me to do some of those frivolous things. Turned out those frivolous things made me happier. A happier person works harder, is a better friend, and is a better husband and father. So not only did I save my money but domain investing allowed me to make even more AND do things like take a trip to the Netherlands to a friends wedding that I never would have done. But I did and it was one of the best weeks our family ever had. In hindsight I’m not sure how I would advise someone financially. I know I would say this. Do what makes you happy. Not what makes you happy just today. But something that will impact your happiness in 10 years. I would absolutely travel as much as I can when I’m younger. Do it on the cheap. Spending money on better seats on flights is an older person’s game. You’ll have plenty of time to upgrade all areas of your life. Be cheap now but not cheap on experiences. I got a later start than some but I have absolutely zero regrets on my choices. They all led to where I am now. Changing those choices could have taken me in a different direction and I’ll take where I am.
And finally. I was born on the day they landed on the moon. It pisses me off that 50 years later that we haven’t been back. I truly expected NASA to fly all of us babies born on that day to the moon for a big party for our 50th birthday. That’s bullshit that I’m not up there Saturday. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on

Quote of the Day: “You can go to live in Germany, Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become German, Turk or Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.’ -Ronald Regan

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Have a good upcoming Birthday!
When I look back the crazy, shouldn’t spend the money or do that things are some of my best memories 🙂
Ditto. My best was an aero helmet for an Ironman that cost $250 and saved me 15 seconds on my 13 hr finish. My friends have been kidding me about it every week for 3 years. Worth the stories
