For the last 6 months, I haven’t had much trouble dealing with COVID. I work outside for the most part and have space inside. We’ve had a few cases but we have been doing our best to keep in teams of two everywhere and it’s worked very well. But with my Grandfather’s passing, I knew the funeral would get tricky. It’s a small town, we have a huge family, and he knew everyone. It was pretty crowded but it was outside. My family is a very very very Republican family and for some dumb ass reason, Republican means they won’t wear masks. I love my family but they weren’t making great decisions IMO. Half of them didn’t wear masks, half of them did. Of course, I did. But there sits my 95-year-old Grandmother surrounded by them. It drove me crazy. I wanted to push them all away. Then they say “Hey Shane we’re having lunch at the house if you want to come over” Doing EXACTLY what you’re not suppossed to do. My own family is showing why the US has such a COVID problem. Zero effort.
Here’s the catch. I did drop by the house. I wasn’t worried about getting sick. I had a double mask on and got in and out. But I am worried about getting the call because someone is going to get Covid and the close contact police will contact me. And I don’t see how someone doesn’t get sick in that environment. I took off my mask for one thing. To get a picture with my Dad and Grandma. I had this inner feeling that between the death of her husband and that funeral, that it would be my last chance of a photo with both of them and I didn’t want that picture to have my mask on. So I held my breath, had the picture taken and slipped into the bathroom to gargle some mouthwash and wash my hands and face. I said my goodbyes and left. I am just hoping it wasn’t final goodbyes but it very could be with how careless everyone was.

The “Rambo right before a big exam” comment had me laughing!
Glad somebody caught it 🙂
It is so infuriating.
I’m dealing with exactly what you fear right now – a close family member in the hospital, likely the result of lunch with 3 friends. In this case, they had been careful and smart since March – then one day they got a little casual.
Now we have one in the hospital and the other 3 at lunch are all positive and have spread it to others – including an 85 year old.
The 70 year olds are breaking all the rules of social distancing. My parents are insisting I join them tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner at a seafood restaurant called OysterRock in Calabash, NC.
It’s risky and I like being able to breathe, so I’m going to order alot of beer so the alcohol kills the virus.
I’m eating nothing but fried Battered Onion Rings, nothing can survive being cooked in 800 degree hot oil.
Happy Thanksgiving DSAD
GM and Steve. We had ANOTHER Grandparent of an employee die today of COVID. Thanksgiving is going to cost a lot of people their lives
