I remember on Shark Tank when Mark Cuban said he would never hire a guy that did an Ironman. He said if they wasted that much time on training when they should have been working, then he wasn’t the guy for him. He said “I’m out” before he even listened to the guys’ pitch. I’ve disliked him ever since. Despite his success he still he is still such a control freak that he couldn’t let a person decide what they wanted to do with their lives when they weren’t working for him. He didn’t even consider that to some, training is the mental stress reliever that makes them the great person they are. Exercise is so much more than physically working your body. It’s been proven time and time again that exercise makes you smarter. But like anything, if you overdo it, it actually is harmful.
Back to Cuban. He is a perfect example of someone telling you HOW to do something and not just asking you for a result and letting you do it. Smart people need the goal. That’s it. Smart people were hired to figure out how to get to the goal. It’s our job to put in the time and effort necessary to reach that goal. Don’t judge me by what I am going to do with my personal time. If I want to see if I can rewrite War and Peace in cursive with my non writing hand then I’ll write when I’m not busy working. Talk to me about my job, not my personal habits. If I’m not getting my job done then we’ll sit down and see if my personal habits are interfering. Don’t judge me before that.
You can see that got my goat. As does anyone that that confuses their road to success as the best road. We all have different roads. We set goals but the way we get there will be different for everyone. The only consistent is hard work. I feel you can only judge on two things. Results and how you made those around you feel while you worked towards your goal. If you step on friends, family, or coworkers to get to great results than you still fail when I’m the judge. I don’t know Mark Cuban so I ‘m judging on TV words not personal words. I know he is an investor in Morgan Linton’s company and Morgan seems to have plenty of extra time to be online. So maybe Cuban’s statement was for the cameras. Even so, it still riles me up 🙂 Off to go running. Here are today’s names. Click through to see the current price and to fund this daily list

“It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” -Steve Jobs
I forgot about that one. Thanks for sharing
Hi Shane. True. Have never really liked that Cuban guy. Very arrogant and too full of himself. You might be a billionaire, but it doesn’t make you anymore superior to others. In the end, he has to leave his beliefs behind.
I always felt that was just his persona and that those who know him say he’s a nice guy. Nope. They just say he’s “tough” which is a nice way of saying he’s not pleasant to work for. Although nobody like Steve Jobs eiter
Wow a rip mark cuban article, not enough of these out there.
Whenever I have ripped that POS in the past my posts get deleted.
What has he ever really built or created of value? Broadcast.com was a joke, he just got lucky a greater fool named Yahoo existed.
Ran the Dallas Mavs like a frat house for almost 20 years. Then claimed he had no idea of the incessant, horrific sexual harassment culture he himself created. Didn’t Mark cuban pride himself on knowing his business inside and out? He criticizes others’ management but he has never successfully managed anything but .com stock with no revenue.
Lets not also forget that Mark Cuban himself was investigated for sexual harassment in 2011 in Oregon. There is police transcript as proof.
He knowingly harbored a wife beater at Mavs office, and only when it happened multiple times and it became public did he fire him.
Also the whole “Chanlder Parsons” episode. This moron of a “genius” Cuban brings in a player to basically work as GM and be his “bro”.
Cuban luckily got off the hook from SEC for his shenanigans at mamma.com.
If you want to learn how not to run a business, listen to Cuban.
Not by any means defending Mark Cuban but there are a lot of wife beaters in every office. Most are never made public. The problem is from what I understand, there were many things
that he let slide. Mark’s biggest obstacle is himself. He just feels he knows more than everyone. That always puts a glass ceiling on you as a human
Not a typical “wife beating” situation. They were co-workers at Mavs office, he was arrested at the office, but was allowed to stay on. Signed a contract he wouldn’t do it again, and then did it again. Cuban 100% responsible. The woman beater didn’t even get fired until the negative PR rolled in.
Cuban is simply a clown out there for amusement. Not that different from Jim Cramer.
