Got back from my quick trip to Berlin Germany to run the marathon. Went pretty well and finished with a 3:10. I was hoping for a little better but some days go as planned and others you just get through. My training was good enough that even a bad day turned out great so all the work paid off. I know I can go faster but it all has to come together together to get there and some day it will. I still have 10 years to get it right if you base it on my running partner who is 60 and ran 3:07
I can confirm the Germans love dashes and .de. Plentiful in advertising on TV and billboards. I’m sure there is a resale market for German words and .de names but I don’t speak the language and I’m not going to be one of those guys that Googles words and thinks that they are the real meaning. Drives me crazy when some non native speaker says “it means X in French” and then some French speaker says, it does but nobody uses that form or that word, we use Y. So I stick to what I understand and know. English word dot com. Again, not saying there isn’t money in dashed and foreign languages, just saying I’m not knowledgeable enough to play.
Finally, I think I’ve decided to go to Austin during the NamesCon convention but probably won’t be attending the conference. DSAD.com and all of us were removed from being an advertising partner for some reason. It could be that we didn’t help promote the conference and a 3rd tier domain site. It could be that there is a limited amount of domain companies left that want to pay to be part of the conference so ticket sales is the revenue source of the conference and they don’t want to give any away for free. It could be because we have been critical of the conference. But it’s probably because we’re not a great partner. I’ve been going to Austin in January to visit my friend each year and now I can kill two birds with one stone. I usually go to run the Austin half marathon on the 19th so I’ll have to skip the half and see some domain friends.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Namescon seems to be just about names and not about developing the names. Until they get people that help develop names like they do at an affiliate conference then it is just not beneficial for many. Must add value and not chest pounders. On another embarrassing note, Is NJ website unsecured with no active ssl ? YESSS.
