I sold a CHIP yesterday at auction I had no plan on selling. I have been buying LLLL.coms for a decade but I usually try and make a profit and flip them. Like many people I bought some “shitty” letters every once in a while and of course now they are considered premium. I can’t remember what I paid for DDZS in 2012ish but it was under $70. I tried to sell it for $200, then $300 for years with no luck. I decided to see what its worth by paying the $5 reserve cost and put it on Godaddy. I put a reserve of $2K thinking there was no way it would sell. It would get close but the market isn’t quite there yet. Wrong. Its there. I’m not complaining. We have to make profit and I certainly did. I just was planning on holding all my CHIPS for a while and not sell any. Crazy crazy market. Then again I’ve been in the short and numeric market for 5 years so I expected all this. Not this fast but completely expected it. And I have written all about it on this blog for proof. Here are today’s names. Click for current prices.
.
Rosalee.com A girls name that is becoming more popular as old fashioned names make their way back
.
RedDesk.com Awesome online brand. Under $300 is a good buy IMO
.
VZZJ.com Surprised this one hasn’t gotten more bids. The double letters anywhere in a LLLL.com usually gets the price higher. Maybe because its still early
.
CRPB.com Ladies and Gentleman, our first CHIP of the morning is this fine beauty. 13 years old, enjoys long walks on the beach, and hopes to retire to China some day
.
MathMonkey.com I liked the name but already much higher than I thought it would go for

228155.com If you believe that 6N.com will go up this presents an opportunity to get in at a reasonable price
.
5UN.com The NLL.com really have’t moved up like 4L.coms and other short characters. Opportunity?
.
MatressBargains.com If your town is like mine you have at least 10 mattress stores. I guess everyone has a few in their house and they need to be replaced every 8 to 10 years so thats 50 million matresses each year
.
66.biz The short dot biz market just exploded. I started it. Ok maybe I just joined in
.
SS.biz These two are ending in a week but sure worth following

.
SovietRussia.com One of the toughest parts of the world. I actually don’t know, I just love Rocky. One bidder

I am glad for you, you’ve been one of the few guys(if not the only) in the domaining industry that has stuck their neck out and made predictions……still not biting on the .NETS and .CC’s though
Yippee,
Skipping nets and dot cc hasn’t lost you anything. Dot cc are just now starting to move and dot nets have only been all LLL and numerics
No sarcasm, you definitely have been the Rick Schwartz of LLLL.com’s and short .com’s the past 5 years. Only difference is Mr. Schwartz would’ve gone all in. But the proof is all here on your blog.
Tony,
The biggest difference is he didn’t sell. I needed the income so I sold. But I am still adding every day and have to sell less now that I have made a bit more money. There is only Rick and I am not really in his class other than two guys with a big mouth 🙂
Congrat’s on the sale. I had one of my llll.com snatched from my gdaddy account via an afternic listing from the previous owner!!! I apparently clicked on an email from afternic that relisted the name without letting me manage the listing. “Poof” the name was purchased and gone to China. ouch. Make sure any names you have don’t have a previous sale price and listing from another site. Go .cc!! 😉
Steve,
Great advice. Just working on an article reminding people to keep on their pricing
I saw ‘nosmart.com’ and though ‘NoS mart’ – like nitrous oxide for your car.
Also, the mattress domain was typo. Not sure how that affected the price since it was closed by the time I came on this morning…
(and by ‘morning’ I mean 3pm)…
