I think one of the most undervalued part of a good domain name is its use an email. An email is your lifeblood to communication. Having a good email that you can give out verbally and have the other person remember it easily is valuable. One could say that a good gmail address does the same thing and I don’t disagree. Gmail works because it is so popular that if you have a memorable short left side then your recipient will remember. But a short left side is very hard to come by. Numbers and letters usually have to be added to create a new one at this point. With your own domain you can have anything you want on the left. An domain for only email may not have the same value as one used for commerce but it certainly has great value. Something that should not be overlooked. Here are today’s domains
