Happy Monday. I was reading a post at TheDomains where Raymond asked everyone to post their best domain in their portfolio. There were some fantastic names posted (stockmarket.com, medical.com) but there were also some names that were not as fantastic. Especially since they are supposed to be the best name in their portfolio. Add in the price that they would like to receive and it shows how many people in our industry are still struggling to understand domain name values. I will be the first to admit that I am surprised by sales prices on a daily basis every time a sales list comes out. Some of the prices are way above what I would think a particular name would be worth. I also understand to sell at a big price you have to ask for a big price. But you also may never sell a domain if you ask for a big price but nobody is willing to pay even a medium price. I won’t name any particular domains because the point of Raymond’s post is to have people feel comfortable posting their domains and stay positive and I don’t want to take away from that. I also imagine the point of the article was most likely for a particular buyer looking for a good name and that particular post was a great way to bring a few out. It did. Here are today’s names that are worse than and better than some names that were in that list. Click for current prices
