Last month I talked about buying $1000 worth of .us domains that were on sale at Uniregistry for 10 cents. I’m over halfway to breaking even, I sold a second domain for $250 yesterday and I’ve made around $150 in parking.
This is kinda funny. I received an inquiry a few days ago on LoveTrump.com. I hand registered it off the drop list a week before the election. Thank you Pollsters lol.
It’s almost Thanksgiving and it was 66 degrees F yesterday, can’t complain about that. I’m working today and we have the big JFK race going through my part of the county. It’s a 50 mile race that runs on part of Appalacian Trail, up mountains and then along the Potomac river. Hopefully we won’t have to drag and of these poor bastards off the mountain.

Hey Josh,
Good job with your .US domains. I would love to hear how you made $150 in parking?
Cheers
Hey Thanks Ken,
One of the Metrics I used when registering the domains was backlinks, specifically number of diverse, referring C block ip’s. I didn’t spam check the domains but at 10 cents a piece it didn’t matter. Some of the other things I look at with names that might park well is the age and number of backlinks. If the names around 2 years old or less with thousands of BL they’re more than likely crap and the traffic will be crap. If the domain has say 100 backlinks and 10 referring ip’s with an older registration date, it’s more likely to park well with some real traffic.
Of course you can use tools like Ahrefs.com or Moz’s open site explorer to take a look at the links quickly, specifically the anchor text and quality of referring domains. This takes time and I wasn’t going to do it for 10 cent .us domains.
You can also consider the advertiser competition and CPC to try and figure out which names will park well.
Josh,
I appreciate your response and thanks for sharing all of that.
Cheers
