I’m a little curious about the current strategy that Snapnames has employed with their exclusive inventory, I guess the idea can apply to NameJet as well. Snap has raised the price of backorders on snap exclusives from $69 to $79. Some are still $69 but I don’t know what the difference is.
If we look at names that sell on Godaddy we see thousands of names that will go for $12-$69 and then there’s the closeouts. It seems to me that Snap raising their prices is only going to cause more names to go through the whole expiring process and end up deleted. I’m not sure what the benefit to having the price set so high would be. If the name is good or even decent, the bidding will dictate the end price so it’s not like they’ll lose money on those names. Even if the names were sold at $10, Snap and the participating registrar would realize a profit and keep the name under their management.
At the current price they’re sending a lot of names directly to namebright that they otherwise could profit from. I started adding some Snap names to the list and honestly it’s hard to find a lot of names that have a good value at $79. With Godaddy I can be more liberal, because I know that I can possibly buy the name for reg fee +$4 in closeout, so I’m able to take a bigger chance on a midrange name and be more speculative.
On today’s Snap expired list there are over 15K names, the majority of which will just die, with any name of value going to another registrar not in partnership with snapnames. Maybe I’m missing something and hey it’s their show, they can run it however they want, it’s just seems like a shame.
If I was running it, I’d drop the price to $19 and get people interested in the names and searching through the list. I guarantee you that many domainers ignore going through the list every day or half heartedly go through it because there’s less chance of finding good value there.

BullyLess.com Bullying is a hot topic, if it were politically correct the name would be no bully or something like that, but I gotta to tell you, sometimes there’s that person that obviously didn’t get bullied at all and is annoying as shit. I’m not endorsing Bullies, but I think sometimes we create future problems with overreaching policies. There’s a kid that used to volunteer at the firehouse that I work at, he’s an adult now and has no concept of how to properly interact with people. He made the news during high school as a victim of “bullying”, sometimes it’s not bullying it’s Justice. Now, as an adult he can take no criticism, does whatever her wants, and will probably push someone too far and really get hurt. Don’t be mean or hurt people but remember there can be value in all the things we learn and the experiences we have.

You are right about SnapNames.
Josh,
I missed your list, but I was able to get 2 out of 3 names I liked on GoDaddy closeout! The other name I knew would go for a lot and it did.
Are you on Twitter? I cannot find you on there.
