I’m writing from Denver Colorado, we spent the last few days in Rocky Mountain National Park, did some hiking today and saw a heard of elk.
I did an expirment with .us domains that were on sale at Uniregistry.
I’ve sold several .us names over the past couple of years, the highest for over $3k, but most around $100-$300. I bought them for $1.99 at Godaddy and never renewed any at the regular reg fee.
So last week I bought around 9k .us names off old drop lists, one word, registered in multi extensions including other cctlds, names with back links, most are probably spam, and some 4L’s. I spent $900 and yesterday without even listing them anywhere, sold one for $150.
Ive talked about .us before, and I think the average person has no problem using a .us as a cheap alternative. There is some perceived authority in the extension when governmental agencies like the county I live in, use them for all their sites. I’ve never paid over reg fee or really even full reg fee for a .us so the risk is low.
I’ll probably list them all with BIN, so the overall maintenance is low.

NamePros
Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Josh, how has your .xyz experiment gone from your experiment a couple months ago?
I got greedy, I could have tripled the $100 already but overshot the price and haven’t heard back. Which reminds me I need to add BIN prices to them as a group, haven’t gotten around to it yet. I did sell a 4 letter for around $300 but it wasn’t from that group.
