Final Results for the Sedo Dot Co Auction from Friday

The final numbers are in from this past week’s dot co auction and they’re not too bad. As I said earlier we posted two favorites equipment.co and jelly.co on our daily picks list.  Either we know our domains or we move the market,  because those two names turned out to be two of the top names in the auction.  There were some pretty good sales but even more great deals. As a seller, I would have been a little disappointed at the marketing of the auction because there were not enough bidders to buy all the domains listed in this one auction.  It would have better off split into two.  I thought there were a bunch of fantastic buys under $200.  Pretty sure we’ll look back in the future and say some buyers made some money as a result of this auction.  I felt very comfortable with my buys as I purchased turtles.co and cherry.co and won’t be letting them go for anywhere near the prices I paid.  That is unless someone wants them both for $1500 right now and then I’d be out.  Here are the complete results courtesy of dot co blog.

  1. Even when I see a name like Vending.co go for that cheap, I still can’t pull the trigger. The English words are just too similar to .com and the Spanish words are over priced for the country. It’s an opportunity cost thing that I would just rather spend that money elsewhere. But best of luck with your names. I hope they do well.

  2. PeanutButter.co …. LOL . Like someone can’t find better domains to invest in. 🙂

Now watch it sell for 100K.

    .

    1. Clobert Rine,

Give me one $100 domain that would be a better buy. Not saying there aren’t but $100 doesn’t buy you many keywords. I’m not a big dot co but the risk reward on one word keyword domains under $200 is very good IMO. Hell, I already made .05 on parking on cherry. co $120 investment 🙂

  3. The best buy IMO was peliculas.co for $230 Spanish for Movies so works well with the (cc)TLD and a great price!

Prices overall are very low for this auction especially counting that Sedo wants a minimum of $50 commission I am left with $60 for Pretzel.co ah well at least I paid less for it myself.

  4. When you see a name like Vending.co for that Cheap, You Jump On it. Vending Co. (Company), It’s a perfect fit. I Think there was a couple of them in this auction we should of jumped on.

  5. .Com domains that dropped and sold in the $100-$150 price range that I didn’t buy but I watched… within the last week or so – RealKey.com, OneText.com, FlipPlate.com, FindPills.com

I’d take that any of those over a random one word .co.

Also, I’d take a quad premium or pronounceable 4L .com over most everything on the list and I don’t even invest in 4L’s really.

  6. WOW Thats Crazy Andrew IMO.

Not only are some of these very good one word names, but look at some of the Trends going on with .CO . The New Hot Godaddy Girl alone is going to turn heads & give .CO attention to the general public. Not to mention along with the Hot .CO Girl, there’s Godaddy the biggest player of them all promoting it..

That Alone Should give it some Value. Maybe not the big profit turnaround like some of the other TDL’s, but some extra profit if you hold on to them.

.CO at this time is going pretty cheap so take advantage if you can. At these types prices we got in this Auction, you just hold on to them.

    Again, this is IMO.

  7. If you really want to own spinach.co instead of RealKey.com or FindPills.com, be my guest. No, a hot godaddy girl will not make a difference to valuations. Of course a registry is going to promote an extension that they make good money on… because they are on the winning side of that transaction.

I didn’t say they were worthless, but I choose to invest elsewhere. And I don’t think that’s crazy.
