I bought a stand-up desk a few weeks ago, it’s not a full desk but one that sits on top of a regular size desk. It has hydraulic pistons that let me easily move it up and down. It’s a pretty cool invention and it allows me to move around while I’m working instead of sitting the whole time. The desk came with a mat to stand on to keep the feet from getting sore.
After using the desk for a few days I realized that I’ve been sitting on my ass for way too long. I had to start stretching every so often and while it doesn’t make me sore, it made me realize how weak you can get if you don’t make deliberate effort to avoid sitting around. I also think that standing and moving around gives you more overall energy and focus.
So if you find yourself sitting most of the day behind a computer, take a look at a standing desk. Maybe It’ll make you healthier and get more things done.
