Somebody’s collection of BlockChain names is at expired auction today, with BlockChainNetwork.com leading the way. I’m a little confused as to what Godaddy is doing with their expired inventory. A few weeks ago we found that they changed the whois status of names with bids to pending transfer, using this as a mechanism to stop the owner from being able to renew the domain or transfer it out. These names still show the owner’s whois despite the bids.
Here’s a fun fact I discovered while checking the whois on BlockChainNetwork.com via domaintools. The Afternic price set by the owner before expiration was $1514, the price now on Godaddy expired auctions is over $10K. If you look up the name using domain tools the price still shows on the sales banner.
A new era of the Domain Sherpa was ushered in yesterday. I really have missed watching and listening to all the characters talking about domains. I really could listen to them BS about domains for hours while I’m working on these lists. Shane and Drew are the only people I know that can make “That guy is Crazy” a compliment. LOL
It wasn’t the same without Cyger and never will be. That doesn’t mean it won’t be as good, just different. I still think Cyger should host a show on the DomainSherpa, there’s no reason Drew can’t publish a show a day. I can just imagine Cyger sitting there in retirement shaking is head, a single tear running down his face, saying to himself “damn it, I wish I could interview someone, I never should have sold that site, I’m so bored”. That’s how I envision it anyway, so I hope he puts the boat away every once in a while and makes an appearance. 🙂

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Cyger should be offered the gig as just the host. If I was him I’d accept that. No editing work, no planning work, or anything tedious to do. Just host and do what comes natural to him for an hour a couple times of month! I don’t see why not.
We know this is you Mike.
Man, these crypto related names are bid up through the roof. I’ve got NewestICOs.com on NamePros and no one wants to even make a min bid lol.
$1514 was not the BlockchainNetwork.com price set by the previous owner. That banner shows the live bid price if the domain is in auction. Try searching another domain currently in auction and you will see the current auction bid price …or at least a delayed auction bid price.
It was simply a delayed live bid price from very early on in the auction. BlockchainNetwork.com was at that price very early on in the auction, only for a day or so, before big players came in…
Edward,
Thanks. I’m sure you’re right. What’s interesting is that the banner link went to Afternic, normally expired auctions will say something like “this domain is for sale $12, and link to Godaddy.
