I had a long weekend of soaking baits in Virginia. I didn’t say fishing, because we didn’t catch many fish. Someone asked me today if I had fun, I thought about it for a minute, and said something like, “I suppose it was fun in a way: it wasn’t fun only catching a few fish in 18 hours of fishing, but now that it’s over I have that worn out, tired, satisfied sense that I didn’t sit in front of a computer all weekend.”
The first day, Saturday there was crazy winds and huge waves in the open sections of the river.
It was the first time we ever fished the James River, so hopefully we learned a few things and will do better next time. We weren’t the worst, there was a total of around 125 boats, and 
at the end of day one, 30 or 40 boats had not weighed in at all.
