There’s a new DomainSherpa.com review episode that was just published, I was able to participate as a Sherpa.
The other sherpa’s thought that I might have gotten more for the domain until I told them that I used HugeDomains pricing algorithm. Maybe I could have gotten more, but it’s kind of like playing blackjack.
This is probably a horrible example, because the house always wins in the end, but my point is that if I play by the book I’ll have more wins in the long run. The “book” in this case is the data that Godaddy and HugeDomains use to set prices.
So I could go with my “gut” and stand with a 16 against the 10, and maybe win, or I could try and be consistent using the data and win more over the long run.
This is more of a concept than a rule, there will always be contributing factors, but I think the closer that I stay to the rules the better I do.
