You’ve heard me say it several times but it really has been awesome watching two local business people become billionaires and internationally famous. Jimmy John of Jimmy John’s sandwhiches and Shad Khan of Jacksonville Jaguars both live in our town. Of course they both have several other homes but this is where they started and have home base.
I work with both of them as far as supplying plants but I have watched them grow their businesses and finances. I have a few friends that have important roles in their organization so while I don’t know detail, details, I do know more than the average person. I watched Khan buy parts suppliers on the verge of bankruptcy in 2007-2008 because he knew that they had contracts with auto suppliers and cash flow. Turned a few hundred million quickly into billions. Which turned in to the ability to buy the Jacksonville Jaguars which leveraged to buying a football club and a private jet company.
Jimmy sold parts of his company a little bit at a time to Inspire Brands and used that money to make some great investments in farm land and real estate. Eventually selling it all to Inspire and making more than he could make in sandwiches. And while I feel like I’m doing extremely well with my businesses, I look at both of those guys and realize that with patience, some financial leverage, and a great business model, you can scale things to a lot of zeros. I probably won’t ever get there because I’m too old. But I know there is no ceiling. My neighbor literally bought an NFL team. My other neighbor has an 18 person crew yacht. And 25 years ago when I met these guys they had about what I have now. I’ve never been jealous, only inspired.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Nice timely post! Jacksonville Jaguars had a massive night last night drafting Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne! Very inspirational!
