Its a saying that when you have nothing better to talk about then you talk about the weather but the weather turned rough yesterday. Travis called me to tell me the weather in Texas had turned and to be ready. Usually, the cold and snow come from the North and West but move in a different directions. It was a hard turn. It went from nice and above freezing to a 20-degree drop and the wind picked up. My daughter being the oblivious one was going to drive home Friday and make a long trip home. Didn’t even realize she was driving into a blizzard. So we made her come home a day early. Except she decided she wanted to stay and hang out so she only drove halfway and didn’t get going until after 10 am yesterday leaving her 7 hours of driving into the storm. Horrible decision making and she whined and called every 15 minutes asking what to do. My wife and I responded with. “You should have come home yesterday or at least gotten up early and got out instead of having breakfast and coffee and chit chatting”
As parents of an adult child we’ve lost sympathy for terrible decisions and while a little bit of danger and suffering may arise, she has to deal with the repercussions of making bad choices. The last few hours were white-knuckle driving that didn’t have to happen but she chose the knuckles, she gets the knuckles and everyone is ok. I would say she learned her lesson but my guess is friends will be chosen first even if it means a bit of danger and suffering.
