I was talking to a doctor yesterday who was practicing in the US but was originally from New Zealand. Of course, I love hearing about his business and his background, and likewise, he loved talking about plants and running. I took a 20-minute visit and turned it into a 2 hr visit between him and his assistant. Both great guys who liked to exercise and great business people as well.
The office was a private practice and was a specialist (I’m ok, just doing blood work and other tests to make sure my body is doing well). My questions for him were more about SEO and his website because that is how I found him. Interesting numbers he told me. If a person comes in to inquire about services, then 40% of the time they set up some kind of work to be done. If they email only less than 5%. If they do a free virtual consult then they come in 25% of the time. If they do a virtual consult and live closer than 15 miles then it’s 10% closing.
I love hearing close rates from different businesses and how they get there. The sales industry is all about getting them on the phone or a call. The numbers above made sense in that if they live close enough to come in then they are more serious. Medical work that isn’t a result of an injury or illness is harder to sell. Preventative things that cost money out of pocket aren’t something the average person does. They are so used to insurance covering everything that paying $1000 or more to have scans and bloodwork done often has to be sold. Either through the clinic or through social influence. I do like the business of anything that makes you look better or get healthier. People want to look better and eventually, they are going to figure out the secrets to feeling better as well. That’s baseline establishment, preventative care, a program for physical improvement, or slowing of decline. Was interesting to see some numbers behind the business model in action.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Hey Shane,
I read the DSAD daily list every morning with my coffee. I think that is a ‘smart’ move for anyone in our industry. Happy holidays to you and the team.
