Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday, January 14th, 2022

So evidently people don’t like me using 2021 in my posts even though its 2022. But maybe I still have some things left to do in 2021. I figured I could delay my taxes if I could pretend I still thought it was 2021 and used my blog post as evidence. “Your honor, if you see on Exhibit A, DSAD.com, Mr. Cultra still thought it was 2021 and bought the $100,000 computer as an expense in what he THOUGHT was calendar year 21” Guess I’m just going to have to pay taxes.

I’ve been working hard all week trying to get statuary and pottery into the nursery for 2022 and its been a bitch. I’ve mentioned it here before but a crate from China (the big steel boxes you see on the boats) used to be $4500 and be to the states in 30-45 days. Now that same crate is $24,000 and 60-90 days if we’re lucky. Which does two things. Raises the price by 20% per piece and makes it pretty difficult to do just in time inventory. You are doing a lot more guessing. What I had my suppliers do is send out a 90 day inventory list. Showing me what was in stock, what the inventory was like now and after each shipment. Most pieces looked like this

-854 pieces -532 piece -440 pieces -298 pieces

Filling some inventory but never getting to positive. So I was able to put together an order of stuff coming in and what was in stock with a back order of the special pieces. It enabled me to have a great inventory. Not everything exactly what I wanted but still going to be good. Most people are going to pick what they want and wait and complain. Meanwhile sitting with an empty sales yard. In short, we will have the most stocked nursery and while not everything they want will be there, there will be plenty of choices and they’ll end up finding something they like. When I asked the salesperson how many people asked for the details like that he said “Two”. And the other guy hasn’t sent in an order yet so it will change dramatically if he doesn’t get it in soon. As far as plants, I’m good. We grow them, no shipping or buying required. And I get to raise the price by a lot. Inflation is ok when you create your own product and most of the cost is time. Time doesn’t generally get more expensive. More valuable yes but not more expensive.

And finally Joe Ruiz’s project T.O.T.A (@TotaCollection on Twitter) is coming along nicely. Its run by Joe, Sophie, and Kyna (yes two female founders) and has 8 characters that I think people are really going to like and have fun with. Joe’s art is unmatched IMO and the female team is a must for me from now on. Smart women with a perspective men can’t give. Here is are some of the prelim sketches. Not even close to finished but just an idea of what is coming up. Let me know what you think

Domain of the Day: LH.org This is one is special. $50k plus IMO at auction

Quote of the Day: “Do not make permanent decisions with people or things that are temporary.
