You’ve heard me say that the only thing that I get more excited about than selling a domain for a huge amount of money is trying to create the business that can afford a huge domain. Because while you may celebrate the big sale, they are the ones that are going to be making the real money. They’ve created the entity that can pay for the domain and a whole lot more. That domain is a one time sale, a business creates a pipeline of income if done well. The reality is most domain investors don’t have the ability. Flipping domains doesn’t take a huge skill set. It takes a lot of hustle and negotiating skill but if you’re good at that you can make a living. Building a business and/or running it is a whole different beast. Its a time and mental suck. I am talking to Pep Dekker as we come up with a strategy to continue on with BigIsland.org I know that I have a few choices. I can put someone on it that makes it THEIR full time effort or I can hire a team that works at it and whatever it makes gets put back in to them. So I don’t make anything but it builds itself. They reward themselves. I get nothing but the final result. I need more of that. A lot more of that. The builders keep all the revenue as they go so the better they build the more they get to work on it. We’ll see how it goes. Sean Markey built the original pages. If you remember from past intros I bought BigIsland.org at auction because it was the official tourism site of The Big Island. I had planned on building out TheBigIsland.com but then this came out and it had tons of great backlinks and Sean wanted to capture all those backlinks and keep them live. So he created a nice little site to make sure all the link providers knew we were still there. The result is 13K plus visitors this year and they actually spent a little time there. That was merely from a small little site.
It shows the power of old sites. Now its time to build and add. Real articles, great pictures, real info. There were no ads in the first year and now we can monetize a little more. Build an asset. Because while a domain is a great asset, a revenue producing site on a great domain is an even more valuable asset.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
for whatever reason, the logo in the header on BigIsland.org is broken. when I investigated, it seems that is linking to a live asset, so I am not sure why it’s showing up as broken. Hopefully it’s just me.
We had that issue early. Its broken on Chrome. We’ll have to get that fixed . Thanks
