So much time and effort has been spent trying to build up the handshake name system. Decentralized names to avoid the evil empire of ICANN. It never caught on. The concept was decentralization but what happened is a small number of people snapped up most of the good names. It became a centralized decentralization. The use case was eventually we can make it work on all browsers but for now you have to do a few things to make it work. It didn’t. Turns out most people don’t care.
Meanwhile ENS or dot eth went the simple route. They were centralized but still based on blockchain technology. They marketed a different way. They said, we will get you on a browser some day but in the meantime it can be your wallet address and your vanity name as well. The big move came when they dropped a token. Giving some to every person that owned a name. The final catalyst was Vitalek saying he thought NNN and NNNN.eth names were a good investment. Add all that together and ENS names are the new gold rush. Meanwhile handshake disappears further into the weeds. The people behind it like Mike Carson and Steve Webb are two of the smartest people I know so at some point they will have their day. And the people having their day with ENS are not traditional domain investors. They are the new breed. And they are crushing it right now. I’m one of those in the new group. Just another way to make money in domains and crypto. The opportunities never end if you continue to explore

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
