Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, August 26th, 2024

I live in Leadville Colorado 25% of the year and one of the reasons I live here is the culture and “vibe” of the town. In the 1800s there were 300,000 people here. One of the biggest cities in the US. An immigrant community who came for a better life. Only to find a tough life. There is no better way to understand the history than to walk the cemetery in Leadville. It is immense. Hundreds of thousands loss their life here and the average age is 22 years old. Yes 22. The winters here are tough and so was the work. A large amount of the cemetery are children.

You can see the segregation in the plots. From wealth to origins. The “popper” graves go for acres and acres. Popper graves are the sunken graves of people who could only afford a wooden box and a wooden plank with their names carved in. Most are gone but a few still survive, giving you a sense of how tough life must have been. The cemetery is also divided into a Jewish section and Irish section. The Jewish section is ornate with marble and still beautiful today. The Irish section are mostly in the Popper section. Today an Irish memorial stands to represent the tens of thousands of Irish who came to flee the famine of Ireland in hopes in feeding their family. Imagine the trip across the Ocean and the US to only find 10 hr days in the deep dark gold mines.

This sounds morbid why would you want to live there? The town has an incredible work ethic and a working person’s town. Thousands of millionaires were also made here. Combine that with the country’s most beautiful trails and mountains, and it’s perfect for me. It also doesn’t have a ski resort and is at 11K feet so it doesn’t draw hundreds of thousands of tourists. The biggest event is a 100 mile race through the mountains. Otherwise, they come for the outdoors during the summer and a cheaper place to stay and drive to ski. I missed the super cheap homes of 10 years ago but compared to a place like Aspen it’s 1/3 of the cost. I think more people will find the beauty of this place but hoping it takes a while so I can enjoy the peaceful hikes and small-time charm of grabbing a coffee in the morning

All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
