I was talking to an employee that was done for the season and working at FedEx for the holidays. I asked him how it was going over there if it was crazy yet. He said that they have been barely working. That most of the night shift there weren’t any boxes to load. He said that shipping was so bad they hadn’t had a normal day of 100K boxes but once in the last few weeks. He also said that labor was so bad they actually called everyone that had been fired for missing days and asked if they would come back. It’s literally become that desperate. Someone that loads and unloads trucks right now gets $20 plus an hour. It’s always been the case that pay is relative to the ability to replace you and warehouse and package handling has zero people to fill so the wages are becoming crazy right now. I don’t know how this is all going to shake out but its ugly right now. Ships sitting at port because they don’t have people to process customs. Truckers not picking it up because there is a ton of stuff to haul and not willing to wait for the stuff to get processed. Warehouses not getting their supplies because of the above. Its a mess. Christmas is canceled. Except honey. Can still get honey
