Over the last 3 years I have been heavily invested in crypto. It’s up for debate whether NFTs have value or not but regardless, it helped my deep dive into the uses of blockchain and the value it brings to traditional finance and data transfer. Now I am a huge believer in its use case. Crypto maxis try and make everything a use case. It’s not. But there are plenty of use cases.
One is payment. Undoubtedly it will provide faster and cheaper forms of payment. Level 2 blockchains have the cost of transfer down to pennies. From $1 to a million dollars, a transfer is almost free. This means we are very close to having a customer tap their phone and have a stable crypto (pegged to the dollar) transferred to the vendor. Now a debit card costs the vendor.5% plus fees. And you have to wait a day or more depending on your size and your rate. You pay a higher rate to have the money in your account quicker although most vendors don’t even know this.
Another use of blockchain is verifiable credentials. Personally identifiable information and credential details are not stored on the blockchain itself. Rather, the issuer’s public cryptographic key is stored on the blockchain so that anyone can verify if a Verifiable Credential was really issued by them. Can be used for licensing, health data, and supply chain management. Anything that needs to be secure and verifiably authentic.
My real income has come through holding/staking with interest. Using my BTC or ETH and depositing in a new company/dapp as they build. There is some risk of getting the money stolen but the returns reflect that. Whether you believe in it or not, these new companies also give you coins for participating in their ecosystem. So interest plus these drops yield high percentages. Ponzi or not it’s allowed me to put thousands in interest in my bank account each month for years for taking part. While I don’t believe this will continue for eternity, participating allows me to bank the money and invest in Bitcoin which I do believe is going to be here for eternity.
Domain investors love digital assets and the utility they give. Blockchain and crypto are just an extension of this so it all feels natural to me. In reality, domains led me to blockchain which added to my pie so I can thank domains for anything I make in crypto. I know many of you are in the same boat.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Crypto payments – particularly those using Ether – are the future. Absolutely.
Next month, when the Dencun upgrade to Ethereum occurs, the Layer-2 networks will be capable of processing as many as 100,000 transactions per second – for pennies, as you say. By way of comparison, the VISA network does 65,000 TPS.
