You know it’s going to be a crazy month when Steph Curry doesn’t hit a 3-pointer in a game, it hits 100 degrees in June in Illinois, and gas is $5.40 cents a gallon. It’s straight-up craziness. I have always considered volatility a challenge, but this year it seems to come from every angle. Add to it I usually get through all my variables by having partners and team members that help me make good decisions and split up the work. This year I chose some partners that were a bit over their head. Just not prepared for bad times. For the long hours and uncertainty. Like Mike Tyson said “everyone is fine until they get hit in the mouth” and this year, many people got hit in the mouth and struggled with it.
I think there is a crazy amount of potential out there and super excited about the opportunities we all have. I’m just going to have to be more careful in choosing my partners. Actually I probably just need to pay as employees. Everyone wants equity but all owners know we put in a ton of work before there’s actual pay. Most people can’t afford that. They need work then money. 2021 and the start of 2022 taught me more in 18 months than I’ve learned in the last decade. I made some good money but what it really did is teach me how to make more and helped me decide what I really want. I don’t necessarily want more money. I want to make a little money and have a great time doing something I enjoy while I do it. A money making hobby. I’ll be doing more of that in 2022 and 2023
