Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, March 1st, 2021

Escrow.com

Let me start out by saying I put my money into most things to make money. I have causes but those are more in line with going places and helping people. I do give and raise money but I target heavily. The rest of my energy and time online is to make money. I don’t hide it.

So it bothers me when I see people talking about why they buy bitcoin, NFTs, and handshake domains is because they want decentralization. For some that may be true but the reality is they want to make some money. Take handshake domains. One, why does Namebase have to be the only people handing out blockchain domains. What’s to keep someone else from putting names on another protocol that is similar and also puts the ownership in the domain purchasers hands? Doesn’t decentralization mean anyone has access. I know of 10 people that own 75% of the new strings in handshake. Is that decentralized?

I’m not saying I am not participating. But its FOMO. I admit it. I do feel the easiest and safest way is to just store some HNS. I don’t have a ton but I was offered an investment in someone doing a handshake project and told them that my returns were better if I just bought HNS. If their project or someone else’s made it a success then HNS prices should follow. They couldn’t disagree with that. I’m going to buy a few that I like and sit on them.

My biggest fear is the “too many choices” factor. Its human psychology. We can on process so many decisions. Retailers have learned that you either need to limit the amount of products or make the curation of those products simple and easy to navigate. Users of domains have already shown that they aren’t accepting all the current strings. Just too many to remember. What if we add 50,000 more? The same thing will happen as is happening now. Some will catch on and the rest will lay like a dead fish. Bagholders will develop just like they have in traditional name. In short, yet another lottery ticket with Namebase making the big money. The ONLY way that you can truly participate and “guarantee” winning if Handshake is a success by buying HNS. All my opinion only, I get it wrong all the time, but I get it right 10 times more often.

  1. I’m with you Shane, why hide it?
I was into crypto way before the average person had ever heard of it. I was, and still am very interested in what’s possible with blockchain technology. However, at the end of the day I’m more interested in making money haha.
