Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, May 30th, 2022

Today in the US it is Memorial Day. My father, my grandfathers and their fathers had served during a war or around that period. They are my relation because they didn’t die. Dead men don’t have families. My ancestors survived in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam era. They came out heroes until my Father’s generation. Vietnam changed all that. My Father had served his time before he had to be shipped out to Vietnam , the war that made us question war. The world lost millions of people in the second World War. It had a very defined enemy that all could agree was worth all costs to stop. We have not had a common, defined enemy, since, so all wars since have had less clear reasoning behind it. Undoubtedly, the freedoms we have in the United States have been given by the lives of the people that served this country. It is not ours to question whether or not it was necessary to lose their lives, but to remember those that said “I will go”. They deserve our respect and our thanks. They did not make the decision of why. They simply served and did what was asked. Please take the day to say thank you to the men and women that made that choice.

When you see leaders like Putin you are reminded of what is possible. I truly believe he is capable of doing things that would kill hundreds of thousands of people. The people he rules are the helpless victims and will suffer despite having no gains regardless of outcome. Putin reminds us why it is necessary to maintain the highest level of technology and military available to defend the US. All in hopes that mere possession will thwart aggression. I hope the future of serving our country is to build walls and defense, not give up lives. That tech keeps wars to suffering not loss of life. There is a big difference.

So today is a day to remember when and why. Who and where. To thank them for what they did and those that continue to protect us. That allow us to live and do things of our own accord. It is not cliche to say freedom isn’t free. Ask anyone who isn’t free what they are willing to do to live in freedom and you’ll understand why we have war and aggression. Is it our job to give that freedom to people around the world? I can’t answer that question but I can be thankful to those that have given my family our freedom. All the men that came before me are part of those those thanks. I am the first generation in 5 that didn’t have to risk my life. Another thing I am thankful for. I hope my daughter and her family have the same blessing.

  1. Hate on Putin all you like, and you’ll find few that won’t agree with you. But at the same time, please remember that the USA has been involved in more wars since 1945 than any other nation on Earth.

Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Kosovo, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Panama.

Not even going to mention the Bay of Pigs and all the other conflicts around the World like the ones in Latin America that they can’t keep out of and all the democratic leaders the CIA have overthrown and replaced by military junta like they did in Chile and Argentina.

No, Americans need to check their own backyard before they start pointing fingers at other countries. Leave you with an interesting fact – USA has been at war for 226 out of the 245 years since 1776. That’s a shameful statistic. But as long as your politicians remain in the pockets of the military/industrial complex, then you’re going to be exporting your own brand of democracy abroad for many years to come.

You’re right, though, brave men and women. However, none should have to serve these kinds of masters.

    1. The irony in this comment is the cowardliness of not even putting your own name to these thoughts. Amazing that someone is not even strong enough to stand by their own words. Imagine the soldiers that put their life behind their country for leaders they may not agree with and you can’t even put your name to an Internet comment.
