Yesterday I ran 20 miles at 7 min pace and then worked at the nursery all day. A few people on Strava congratulated me on my great run. They didn’t know I had to go home and quickly change and hurry up to work where I loaded mulch, walked around with customers and didn’t stop moving most of the day. The run was the easy part of the day. The people at work didn’t know I ran 20 miles before. What neither know is that for 15 years I’ve been working hard to do both. Like the old saying “I’m not charging you $100 an hour to do this job, I’m charging you $100 for the 20 years I’ve been practicing to get here”. Most people don’t see all the work you have put in over the years. When the guys see me grunting loading up a 100lb bag of mulch into a truck I want to tell them I’m 52 and 30 minutes ago I just finished up a bitch of a 20 mile workout. But that was my choice. People are born good at something. Very few are born great. Greatness comes from persistence and gradually getting better. The reason most people aren’t athletic, great at their job, at an ideal weight, etc is it is years and years of sacrifice and hard work. Much of it being uncomfortable and painful so they give up or are just not willing. I do it because when I can take some time off of work and run a marathon I can crush it. Because I’ve been doing both all year. When I lessen my miles I can hang with the young bucks at work. But during the process it’s rough on the body. So why go through it?
Because it makes me better. When I push my brain and body, it adapts. They become stronger. No matter what age if you push then recover, you build up. Of course you have to do it properly or you can hurt yourself and make things worse. I am always consulting with professionals and taking blood work to make sure I’m good. “But why work so much? I make a lot more money than you and I just sit at home” The chips you collect to mark success may be different than mine. Money is there but its down on the list. I want to wake up looking forward to every day. I want to laugh a lot. I want to have a group of people that care about me. I want my wife and daughter to have the life they want. I want to have little to no stress each day. I want to wake up feeling strong and confident each day. I want to be pain free for as many years as I can. Even if that means being sore many of them. If money brings all these things then I’ll keep striving for more. But it only covers some. There is a lot of work that’s needed but it brings no money. Meaning I won’t make as much as many but my other wants will be fulfilled. To me that’s the wealth I want. And some days that means running hard. Others times it’s as simple as emptying the dishwasher or meeting a friend for dinner when you’re tired. But all roads lead to a better life. Or at least to me its better

Quote of the Day: “Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.” —Calvin Coolidge.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
