We picked up our new Silver Lab puppy yesterday. It’s been over 20 years since we had a dog. We just were too busy to have a dog before. Long hours for my wife at work and me at the nursery. That’s changed. My daughter is at school, my wife now works from home. And the nursery is ready for a dog. I had never heard of a Silver Lab but evidently it was a mutation of a chocolate lab that stays if you breed two silver labs. I was looking for a Golden Retriever or a Lab. Then a coworker out of the blue said “Would you like a Lab puppy? I immediately said yes. That was even before the pics. How could a puppy not be cute. When she told me it was a silver lab I pretended like I knew what it was but I had to go home and Google it. He turned out to be as pretty of a lab as I’ve seen. He’s definitely a chick magnet.
Long story, short. He was great his first day and already looks to be a great dog. I’ll let you know more about the sleep thing. Although the first day when he was tired he would just go into his kennel and go to sleep. And already goes into get his own food when it wants it and sniffs by the door when he wants to pee. But again, day 1.

Congrats on getting Franklin moved in to your place. Now the excitement begins. As you know, I have two English Setters, Max and Bobby. Max is 1yr 7mos and Bobby turned six months old yesterday. Keep an eye on the little guy as much as you can the first month or two just to make sure he doesn’t eat something he shouldn’t or hurt himself in some unexpected way.
