I ran a 10K Time Trial yesterday just to see where I stand before I start my spring training cycle. My goal was to break 40 minutes and I ran 39:35. Two seconds faster than my best time ever that I ran 7 years ago. I’m probably not as fast as I was then but shoes are much better and worth 30-45 second IMO. But I am in great shape for winter. My coach has a broad range of athletes from all over the world. Some Olympians that are running in Tokyo, a lot of potential Olympic Trial runners, and age groupers like me. Everyone good but some just good for their age like me.
I took off WAY too hard and by mile two I knew it was going to hurt. And I still had 5 miles to go. There’s nothing more painful than being out of gas one mile into a 6 mile run. I was thinking to myself, “Maybe I fake an injury” but that’s not my style. Then I thought “just jog it out, it’s not like anyone cares” but I know it was only going to hurt for a half hour and me being pissed at myself for not trying would last weeks. So I held on and ate the pain and finished. I finished last in our group of 4 and Rachael our best runner ran 5:40 pace and basically ran two 17:30 5Ks back to back. She was flying. Of course she’s a little younger and one of the top 300 women in the US. She just happens to run with me. My coach also has a runner that ran a 37 minute 5K at 5:59 pace. Which is good but this guy is 65. Yep 65. Gives me hope that I can still get faster. I’ve gotten faster for 13 years in a row now and I know it’s going to end eventually. But after watching a few of the runners in our group there’s hope that I have another decade of improvement.
I know its possible because I don’t do a lot of things I should be doing. Eating better, more water, stretching, less work. I do all this during the summer but slack the rest of the year. That’s why it will be interesting to come back in August and see what I can run when I shed 10 lbs and get in great shape. My guess is 38 something. We’ll see. I’ll pretend like someone else cares 🙂

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
