Travis and Rachel our Graphic designer at the nursery built our holiday order page over the last few weeks and it turned out amazing. Travis coded and she helped with the wire framing and photos. Everyone wants to shop online and with Christmas Trees being in short supply this year it was a perfect time to let people buy their trees way in advance. 3 Weeks before we even get them and at the same time we can try and sell them some of the other decorations we have. It also allows us to offer $15 shipping to their door because of the large numbers of deliveries. We can do 30-40 deliveries a day if we keep them the same area. Last year was a trial and it was big success. We expanded it this year and added a little to the tree price to pay for it. We also get payment in advance and actually should pay for all the product before we even get it. We only do local delivery but its completely possible that we could set this up around the country and work with local suppliers to fulfill. We tried it out here by having another supplier who is a friend of ours deliver a few trees that were located closer to him.
We also have pop ups that have add ons. Like tree preservative and disposal bags. It will interesting to see if that increases sales of stands. We also set up pages for organizations to sell wreaths. Similar sites but individual sites for each organization. 4 or 5 different types of wreathes that are retail priced and we sell to them at a discount. We’ve had a few thousand in sales already. Its our first year doing this and its a work in progress. But its a few thousand in sales we didn’t have last year and the back end was already built to do it. Travis has been great helping build all this. Its made our nursery look cutting edge and given us sales we never had. We did over half a million from online sales this year and that’s compared to zero dollars five years ago. I expect over a million in a few years. I just have to keep from making millions in domains and NFTs so I have incentive to keep working 🙂
