One thing has been made very clear is that the lack of data about domain names has made it less appealing for investors. I think a huge reason why NFTs have become so popular is data. Every sale is public. That data can be presented in ways that allow you to see categories, floors, comparables. All at your fingertips. Domain are word of mouth if they aren’t on platforms. Even platforms only release part of the sales. Godaddy releases a small percentage. We think Namebio is great because its the largest database we have in the industry yet its only a small percentage of what is happening. Especially the bigger names behind the scene.
For cryptopunks and bored apes you have tweet bots that show every single sale. Imagine the excitement if you got to visually see every million dollar domain sale and purchase on your feed like the crypto punks. Or chart that lists every LLL.com that you could track. They would be bought and sold like the NFTs are. Yes HNS is doing it but the sales pale in comparison to legacy domains. But you get my point. This has always come down to money but the gamification of making money is where the extra big money is. Trading is a game. Any kind of trading. The people doing it are playing a game where money is how you keep score. I think domain investing would double if sales had to be public.
I say all this so you can see why domain investors are spending a lot of time in the NFT market. Its data at its finest. It’s the perfect game. Domain investors have a huge head start in the digital world. They understand the game as well as anyone. It’s no wonder they have been some of the most successful people in the early months.
Domain of the Day: SpreadIt.com Most bids on the board today. I assume they are talking about peanut butter

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
I think you are spot-on with your take on NFT vs Domain. I was explaining NFTs to a domainer yesterday in a Slack channel and said this “One good thing about NFTs that we don’t have for domains is that every transaction is recorded on the blockchain and therefore public. So when you hear someone talk about an NFT “Floor”, that floor is more stable than domains because it’s an inherently more informed consensus about price.”
