In my opinion, there has been no better book written than “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. It’s so simple yet most ignore the obvious. I’ll leave you with 10 points I keep a printout of by my desk. 50 years into this life I am still poor at so many of these but more cognizant every year.
Show Genuine Interest in Others: Take a real interest in the people you meet. Ask questions about their lives, listen attentively, and show that you care about what they have to say.
Smile: A warm, genuine smile can make a powerful first impression. It signals friendliness and openness, making others feel more comfortable and valued.
Remember and Use People’s Names: A person’s name is the sweetest sound to them. Remembering and using someone’s name shows respect and helps build a connection.
Be a Good Listener: Encourage others to talk about themselves. Listen more than you speak, and show that you are engaged in the conversation.
Talk in Terms of the Other Person’s Interests: Focus on what the other person is interested in rather than what you want to talk about. This shows that you value their perspective and helps build rapport.
Make the Other Person Feel Important: Make people feel valued by acknowledging their contributions and showing appreciation. Sincere compliments and recognition go a long way.
Avoid Criticizing, Condemning, or Complaining: Criticism and complaints create resentment. Instead, focus on positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.
Show Respect for the Other Person’s Opinions: Even if you disagree, respect the other person’s viewpoint. Avoid arguing and instead seek to understand their perspective.
Admit When You’re Wrong, Quickly and Emphatically: Admitting your mistakes disarms the other person and shows humility. It also builds trust and respect.
Be Empathetic: Put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Understanding their feelings and perspectives allows you to respond in a way that resonates with them, creating a stronger connection.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
