$5000. That’s what my costs are per year to keep my domain business open. That’s the renewal costs of my domains. 500 in total. “But what about all your acquisition costs?” Those are paid. Obviously on paper I wouldn’t make a profit if I sold for less than I paid but they have all been paid for and I am profitable in domain investing. I know I am with zero spreadsheets of data. I know because I started with $10K from a website sale. I often say I started with nothing because I started my site on blogspot which was free. As soon as I made money from ads I moved it to WordPress hosting. I never spent a cent of money that wasn’t earned from the web on anything. Never have.
Technically I have used the money from this site to buy names but it fits into the category of paying for itself. Every name I bought or buying came from income made here in domain investing one way or another. That’s where you want to be. Where the boat drives itself. Pays for its own gas and only needs to be guided. The rest is patience. When you sell a name you set some aside for taxes, for portfolio renewal and then you hunt for a replacement name or names. Rinse, repeat.
You’ve heard the names I own over and over so I won’t talk about them any more but you know that time and good selection makes you wealthy in this industry. I have chosen improved portfolio over wealth in the short term. Success has made me an unmotivated seller which has made me successful. The best way I have found to make a ton of money is not need any money. At least in domain investing. You can still have drive and passion without selling to the first offer. But you can’t let a bad domain disguise itself as you being an unmotivated seller. You can’t hold out for more when there never was an anything. No bids, no offers, no comps of real comparison. Chasing trends and names leaves you in the back. Use profits to buy better names than the name you sold. That’s a business model that’s proven and its worked for me.
Domain of the Day: BetterNightSleep.com Love this one as a marketing name. It’s not going to be their company name but if the name is tough you can use this for them to remember.
Quote of the Day: “When I was young I thought that money was the most important thing in life. Now that I am old, I know that it is.” ~Oscar Wilde
Remember to click the links to see the current prices and if you are going to pay for a name do it while visiting DSAD.com. It pays for the gas to run the ship.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
