I was talking to someone the other day and we talked about what all older people talk about. The new generation not being as tough. Its undeniable that each generation is not as tough as the generation before. I’m not as tough as my Dad and Grandfather—generations who say WWII and Vietnam. One advantage we all had was confidence. You were the best if you were at something in your neighborhood, maybe your town. We didn’t have social media to see the best person at everything. Nobody feels special anymore because there are 100 of you online and all better. I didn’t have to deal with that. I had self-confidence because of the lack of ability to find things that made me feel bad about myself.
I was good at PacMan if I had a top 10 score on the machine at the local arcade. TSC right there for everyone to see. I couldn’t see the other 100 million players like you see now. Pro players streaming on Twitch. In that case, I would have thought I wasn’t that good. Instead, I was known at school as one of guys who had 3 out of the top 10 positions and that was good for a little street cred.
I was tougher in that I had to know directions. Make decisions based on memory. Head out into the world with no phone backup. Ride my bike along a busy street 5 miles to go get a pack of Garbage Pail Kids. I played after dark. I got hurt and limped home. Today they would call it careless parenting yet no more kids were getting hurt than now. I think we have mental health issues now because of the above. The pressure to be more than yourself is harder than ever. The ability to improve is more available than ever. That puts a lot of pressure on you to do exactly that. So while former generations may be tougher, growing up today is harder than ever despite all the tech and ease of finding information. That information has forced us to be highly productive and we weren’t made to be productive all the time. Finding a balance is where the good life is

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. All names were chosen by us, Shane, Travis, and/or Josh . Everything we say is based on our research or is opinion. Do your due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, registrars, and individuals that are auctioning names. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Love it….. You have always been a great writer, but your wisdom is taking it all to the next level…. Good seeing ya …. Cheers 🍻
