When buying “brandable” domains, it’s easy to use the various brandable marketplaces as sounding boards as to whether a domain has any value. I wonder how many of us buy a name, submit the name to various marketplaces and then decide the name isn’t good when it’s rejected. I’m certainly guilty of this with some of the names I buy thinking that if the name is rejected by multiple marketplaces, then the name probably has no value (many for good reason). Still, it is fun when it turns out to not be true. I purchased SwipeFashion.com on 5/13/2017 via DropCatch for $9.00. It sold for $1,999 via Afternic a couple weeks ago. The name was rejected by BrandBucket, Brandpa and SquadHelp. I’m not saying it shouldn’t have been rejected – I don’t even like swipe names that much. Swipe is kind of a weird word that reminds me of stealing something or sitting on a toilet, but it is also a decent term for mobile apps. But BrandBucket has several names listed with swipe in them including SwipeSwipe.com. I’m a million percent sure SwipeFashion.com is better than SwipeSwipe.com. I guess the gist is don’t throw everything you buy up for auction if it’s rejected. Maybe your intuition was correct when you bought the name.
