I was looking over the NamesCon schedule earlier and did a double take when I noticed a session on Sunday afternoon called Secrets To Triple Your TM Typo Earnings. I wasn’t expecting that. It looks like it is a product called SitePlug, and apparently they have agreements with several hundred companies to redirect traffic such as typo traffic back to their website. I guess you submit your typo names to them and they match those names up to their clients. Then I suppose you have to set your name servers to theirs or they give you some type of redirect code to put on the page. They get the typo visit, log that it came from you so they can pay you for the redirect and then redirect on to the client website. The end user is happy to get to the right place, the client is happy that the user made it there and SitePlug and the typosquatter get paid (up to 3x more than parking if you believe their marketing). Sounds like the clients are dancing with the devil here and encouraging more typo registrations. I’m sure they can and will still go after the squatters with C&D letters / lawsuits. The only mention I could find on NamePros is someone from the company talking about the service in a couple of threads. Everyone assumed he was a shill trying to come after typosquatters and dismissed him, but now they have a session at NamesCon. Anyone heard about / tried this service that can comment for fellow readers? Click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD continue writing each day.
