Where to auction or sell your names. I am going to forget a few so forgive me if I don’t name your company.
NameJet: It’s where I have auctioned my names for 12 years. Yes, they absolutely needed to update their user panel to auction names. To the point where I have done it pretty much through email every time. Time will tell if putting up a name is easier with the new system. But let’s get to results. They have the eyeballs. That’s what you are looking for. Private listings are treated differently but everyone can see them. There is a big Chinese crowd watching the names and your names are seen by Snapnames and NameJet users. Of the places I will list, it’s the place I feel most comfortable with a lower reserve. That being said. If you have a bad name none of these are going to give you good results. Doesn’t have to be a great name but it can’t be awful. Payout takes a month
Godaddy: It’s tough to get your name noticed at Godaddy. I am fortunate I can use this list to bring attention to a name but if you don’t have a good name its hard to get traction because there are so many names. Add to it expired domains.net don’t list private names in their default listing. That being said, once a name has a few bids, Godaddy can provide as many viewers as anyone in the auction space and will yield as good of results as anyone if its got 10 or more bids and is past reserve . Payout is two weeks
DNWE.com. Haven’t used it but seems like a good place to move a name if you need some cash and willing to sell a name a little below value. Also nice because there aren’t a lot of names and new names get put first. You’re going to know pretty quickly if it will sell. Josh (the owner) would know better, but I doubt names that have been that don’t sell in the first 10 days ever sell.
DropCatch.com I’ve sold a few names here. Best tech of the group but you now have to have your names at Namebright to participate. They also tag private names so people don’t bid as high because they think they have been whored out. Love the owners, love the company, auctions are great for their caught names but not great results for the average person. People are there to buy drops. Payout in a week
Sedo: Used to be THE auction house a decade ago. Much less popular now. The positive is that you get all the attention if you have a good name. Not a lot of quality so its all you if you want. Results are good but I haven’t felt comfortable sending a name to auction without a reserve. If its pushed from a bid, that bid needs to be a number I feel comfortable selling at. Payout is within a few weeks.
