This might sound a bit negative, but I really believe two types of people have become the majority. There are the lemmings—those who believe anything they see in a major publication or hear from someone with authority. Then there are the so-called leaders, or people who talk a lot but never read the comments or listen to feedback.
Of course, this is a generalization. But honestly, 95% of people on X and Instagram just post content without ever checking or responding to the comments. It’s all “look at what I’m doing,” “check my numbers and reach,” repeat.
Then there’s the other group—people who read something and immediately share it with friends, without ever checking if it’s true or why it was posted in the first place.
It’s a kind of symbiotic relationship between blind promotion and blind belief. The real question is: which one are you? Most people will say “neither,” but usually, they fall into one of those two camps.
I’ll admit it—I’m the type who posts and doesn’t engage much. That’s why I’m writing this. I need to be a better listener, to engage with other people’s posts—especially with those who actually engage back. Right now, I just post, post, post.
I need to take a step back and remember why I post, or if I even need to post at all.
When it comes to writing, I’m not as concerned. I write because I enjoy it—it helps me clear my mind and get to the right mental place. If even one person connects with something I wrote, then to me, it was worth it.
It’s everything else about social media that I need to reanalyze.

If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.* All names chosen by us. (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct.
