If I were giving advice to someone younger about how to approach business or success and I have 5 minutes to type it out off the top of my head, I would say this:
Be unafraid to fail while you are young.
Do not compare yourself to anyone except the people you admire.
Ask for help from those who can make you better.
Give that same help back to anyone who asks.
Never let your kids feel like they are anything but the center of your world even while you chase your dreams.
When you are in a position of power, let everyone else talk first.
Apologize to the people who deserve it because you will offend and hurt on the way up.
Do not let arguments stretch past closing time or bedtime. Tomorrow starts fresh with respect.
Great partners will multiply anything you could do alone by ten.
Bad partners will make everything you do ten times harder.
Money is never the real obstacle when the idea is great.
Hard work matters, but it is only noticed by the people around you and it is not a measurement of success. It is a tool, not a contest.
Life is often easier when you just take the paycheck.
Owning your own business is more work, not less.
If pride has value, you will be rich when you build great things.
There is no real life and work balance in your thirties and forties if you want life and work value in your fifties and beyond.
A great company has owners who understand the value of labor, and labor that respects and admires the owners for the opportunities they provide.
I gave myself 5 minutes to think and this is what I came up with. Obviously I reflect every day so a lot of it was at the top of mind. I also have been testing Alpha Brain supplements from Onit to see if it helps me in these types of thoughts 😂. Not sure if its helping yet or not. I’ll let you know
