Bob Parsons always gets a bad rap for sexualizing women and being a bit crude in his manners, but Bob did something very honorable today. He gave $600,000 to Maggie’s Place, a home for women in need. Transition and Women in need shelters have been having trouble raising money due to government cutback and the struggling economy over the last few years. We work with A Womens Fund here in town and know the importance and value of such places to hundreds of thousands of women across the nation. Kudos to Bob Parsons and his wife for their wonderful gift.

Maggie’s Place will open its fourth Arizona Home, The Hannah House, thanks to a generous $600,000 grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, an Arizona-based charitable foundation established by Renee Parsons and her husband, GoDaddy founder, Bob Parsons. Maggie’s Place, which provides houses of hospitality for pregnant and parenting women in need, recently began planning to open a home in Mesa, Arizona in response to the community’s increasing number of pregnant women in need. Critical funding provided by the Foundation will enable The Hannah House to open its doors for up to seven pregnant or newly parenting women. The new moms will be supported by four live-in staff.
“The gift will allow Maggie’s Place to serve expectant women in vulnerable situations in the Mesa area. Through partnering with The Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation we will be able to further address a critical need in this community and help change the future for Arizona’s at-risk pregnant women and infants,” stated Maggie’s Place Executive Director Laura Magruder.
The gift will cover start-up costs for the renovation and construction of The Hannah House, facilitating a complete redesign of the existing property located on Dana Avenue in Mesa. The funding will also cover operating costs for the home for the first two years.
“Renee and I firmly believe that every person is entitled to good nutrition, medical care and a stress-free happy environment,” said Bob Parsons. “Maggie’s Place is a refuge for homeless expecting women, providing them with a safe environment to give birth and care for their new babies. It’s sad that anyone becomes homeless and has to live on the streets. But it is absolutely heartbreaking for a child to start his or her life there. This is why Maggie’s Place is so very important.”
The other three homes operated by Maggie’s Place, located in Phoenix, Tempe and Glendale, are consistently at capacity with a wait-list of pregnant women looking for a safe place to stay. The Hannah House will help offset this need and is set to open in 2014, once renovation is complete.

Whilst this a great gesture,donating money to charities close to your heart does not excuse killing endagered animals for pleasure.
I personally do not care about his crappy crude advertising, i do however care about some dick blasting animals because it makes him feel like a big man.

One should never kill an animal unless to eat it. I have no problem with that. I absolutely don’t condone shooting of an elephant. I also don’t condone the way some animal lovers treat other humans. Whether or not you think a good deed does not offset a bad, I can guarantee the women in need are thankful for his gift. Women that are homeless and have been abused could give a shit whether the man that helped them shot an elephant or not.
Fidel Castro built hospitals, trained countless doctors (now they have some of the best in the world), built roads, built schools and achieved a high literacy rate, built a large bio-technology base, etc… but some estimates put him as having murdered over 20K people.
I could go on about Hitler’s good deeds also….but will spare everyone.
I believe a good act should have no resonance in looking differently on a bad act.

Listen, I am not going to stand here and say I like Bob Parsons, I often have said I think he is an ass, BUT your comparison of shooting an elephant and Hitler and Castro is idiotic. Perhaps the video of villagers chopping up the elephant to a soundtrack of ACDC’s Thunderstruck wasn’t the most sensitive way to display what happened lol.

That’s a completely bullshit narrative, for whatever its worth. It’s basically what all African trophy hunters say, every time.
Either way, color me very, very neutral on ‘foundations’ started by the ultra wealthy. There are tax benefits, it’s a great way to distribute wealth back into your own family via salaries, avoid estate taxes, etc… all the while being great for your ‘image’ whenever your foundation makes some big donation in your name.
There’s a difference between the (Very Wealthy) Family Foundation making a donation and that person himself cutting a check from his personal account.
