DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Saturday 9/20

Escrow.com

I get a few emails (or a lot) asking what I think about names.  I think I understand the numeric market as well as anyone in the world but admit I struggle with the 5N.com values.  Nine times out of ten the names that people present me are really bad and have no resale.  They are names purchased as a result of some sale they saw and they try and get something similar in wording or a different tld.  But that’s not how it works, that’s now how any of this works.  There is a reason that names sold for what it did and just because you get the dot net doesn’t mean it HAS to sell for a certain percentage.  There are general assumptions but that doesn’t make it true.  My advice for a new domainer that wants to spend under $100 on a name is to buy a 5 number dot com, a four number dot net, or a four letter dot com.  I think they will increase in value and if purchased right might even lead to an instant flip.  This is advice and opinion, no guarantees.  But I can guarantee your chances are higher than the “domain is pretty close to a name that sold for $4000” method.   Here are today’s names.

GrowHair.net  Yes its a dot net but NO bidders and a great keyword.  Can get your $25 back in one day. 17 years old

QuickAndLegal.com  It’s gotta be both for me.  Or at least one.  13 years old.  A few bidders

GreenHunt.com  Not a super valuable name but short and memorable and has green in it. No bidders

ReadingPost.com  Kinda of the same thoughts as above.  Also 12 years old.  This one has a few bidders though

EUIP.com  The best LLLL.com on Godaddy today

88Bet.com  88 and gambling go hand in hand.  And the all the bids and price show a lot of people think the same

StrawberryPie.com   A good brand or a delicious treat

BuyingLeads.com   A lot of people are.  If you are in the lead business this is a great marketing name.  Could sell quickly at Affiliate Summit

Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day. $10 off PURCHASES OF $50 OR MORE ACOSKS65

SiteCreator.com 18 years old.   This could be a bargain for someone

Capital.cc  My name.  I thought it would be a good venture capital name.  Nobody agrees.  No bidders

SnapPhoto.com   If Snapchat made love to Instagram

FDMC.com  16 years old.  C for Corporation

Weekdays.com  May hit 100 bidders. Didn’t think it would get that many.  I’ll be curious to see what this goes for

WaterBalloons.com  Fun name.  Again, lots of bidders

HongShi.com  Top bidder getter on the board today

Cords.com  At first I thought it was spelled wrong but then I remembered that this is how you spell the pants

SurfClasses.com Huge name.  Then again, I like surfing.  Especially girl surfers, and even more especially when they warm up like this

2029.net  This is the type of name I think a new domain investor should buy.
