DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Friday 10/24

Escrow.com

Yesterday I was one of the final bidders of drone.net .  I like the name.  I like drones. My wife’s company makes drones and other radio controlled things and I was going to put up a site and sell drones.  But I turned into a business person and thought I might be better off just buying a cheaper drone name on a dot com and use the money to build a brand.  But then I got to thinking even more and realized I’m never really going to do any of it so I ate a donut and took a nap.  Here are today’s names.

BL2.com  I have no idea why this one is so high.  Good LLN.com but this one is 3 times the normal auction price

StartupVisa.com  High CPC and millions looking for a bad credit credit card.  Obvious TM issue though but that doesn’t seem to stop the bidders. PR 5

DriversEdge.com  18 years old.  PR5.  Curious what’s going to give me an edge driving.  So far the best edge has been knowing where I’m going

Calia.com  I know it as a plant but also a name and a pretty brand.  Other bidders agree

Debit.cc   One of the better dot cc you can own.    I own the rest  CC = credit card

Sharkle.com   Getting bids but I had no idea why.  Looked it up. Something about glitter flying out your ass.  Probably the reason

WGWB.com  White Guys With Beards.  Beards are hot.   Under $100 at press time

 TurningRiver.com  Sounds like a beer so I’m a buyer

LMK.com  Let me Know

Working Godaddy Domain Code of the day. $10 off PURCHASES OF $50 OR MORE ACOSKS65

Visors.com   It’s all I wear.  Visors are the new sexy.  Invest

SLEA.com  I’m seeing it as an Acronym because I don’t think Slia’s Head is going to help it much. 18 years old

HotelFunds.com   No bidders. The NY Hotel Union uses the dot org.  Also a decent name for a hotel based index fund.

JBOP.com    Good acronym and only 12 bidders.  Also fun to say….. J-Bop

TapTrick.com  I’ve had great success with Tap names.  I used to have 10 or so and have sold every single one

MLTN.com  More Likely Than Not.   Over 50 bidders.  N for network.  Going to do very well

Stime.com   Is a word.  And just cause I’ve never used it doesn’t make it any less valuable

CopperKing.com  Lots of things with this name.  Also a beer name.  Awesome sauce

LadiesMan.com  Like the name but going to be hard to get The Ladeeesth Man from SNL out of people’s mind

Tannis.com  People, places, and things.  16 years old

Juggy.com  Boobs

ManchesterVillage.com  76 million results on Google but very few bidders

Gackle.com  Sell it to one of the 310 residents of Gackle, North Dakota……….or just make it your own brand.

Ed5.com  Worst band name ever.  Good CCC.com though

ForgottenMoney.com    No bidders. Unclaimed money draw is a good way to get traffic.  Everyone loves free money

FoodShack.com  Good name for selling…….I guess that’s obvious

GunOutlet.com  Can’t believe this doesn’t have a bidder.  Guns are huge here in the Midwest.  I hate guns.  Taser guy myself

NeverLookBack.com  I do all the time and it’s really never hurt me.   Still like the mantra

Pink.net  Hard to believe someone let this expire

DN3.com  Domain investors should want this one…of course they should want most of these names

Inspected.com  Today’s namejet list is so long I’m running out of jokes

TheRetriever.com  Decent brand for a dog or even an online task app.  My name for disclosure so please pay more than you would otherwise

DKDesign.com   40 million Google results really surprised me.  Had no idea how many companies used this name.   Looks like an easy flip.  One bidder

PrettyNew.com   I’m cheap so I’m always looking for something used but in good shape

CAX DOMAIN OF THE DAY    Discretion.com   If you buy the name I’m pretty sure he’ll throw in the website

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details. *All names chosen by me, Shane, and the goal of this list is to have all links be paid through commission . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct

    1. Konstantinos,

Actually I didn’t think about it at the time because I don’t bid on names I am paid commisssion. For Godaddy I only put in my bid and then never raise it. If someone wants to pay more it all theirs and it’s not right for me to come back and raise it in my eyes. I loved the name and wanted to own it and therefore placed a bid. It would be one thing if I was paid commission, but Aaron and I are paid a lump fee for advertising the domain. If anything I caused myself to not get the name because we helped get more bidders and it went above the price I was willing to pay. Also there were several bidders above my final bid and my high bid lasted exactly 5 minutes. I promise I try to not do anything wrong because if I do I know you’ll point it out.

  1. I think startup visa is more about work visas to work in the US if startups want talent from overseas. It’s a big issue for them.
