I’ve been in sales a long time. I know how to negotiate and although I do get emotionally involved when I want something, I have gotten pretty good at not having to have something. One thing I don’t like is someone using the old salesman statements. Things that everyone says all the time in an attempt to influence my decision. Which is never does. Usually just gets me to start ignoring the emails.
- I have another buyer that is interested so you probably need to make an offer quickly/bump your bid
- I’m not making much on this name/my commission is almost nothing on this one
- This name is perfect for the following industries x,y, z, (like I don’t know why I am buying it)
- I’m not really interested in selling the name but I would take a good offer. (If you are taking an offer means you are interested in selling/ not interested is thanks but no thanks reply)
- I need to have it done by today. (On he sales side, of course I’ll get i done. On he buy side, the name has no action for three months and now it has to happen immediately)
The are more but those are the ones that come up almost every time. My general feeling is I don’t care. I don’t care about any of the circumstances. I just want to come up with a price we both agree to. Whatever motivates the seller or the buyer is no concern of mine other than price.
PS: Love Giuseppe but THIS has a Zero percent chance of success Here are today’s domains. Click to see the latest price

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Shane,
I’m a big fan of Giuseppe as well. Why do you think his new company is not going to be successful?
I personally believe they need to expand their inventory out to at least 3C, 4L, 5N and probably 4C domains. If they don’t I can’t see how there will be enough inventory or buyers and sellers. Giuseppe is a very smart guy so maybe he sees this differently and it will work. I hope he is successful and I will be a customer.
Cheers
Ken,
I think Giuseppe is one of the best brokers around. He understands this market as well as anyone in the world. But running an exchange or auction house requires inventory. It has been proven
over and over that it is so difficult to do this. Ask Rosener. He tried. Again this isn’t about Giuseppe. This is about running an auction house without expired or dropped inventory flowing through. It is impossible. Even Namejet has hit a tough road with limited expiry names. Trust me, I am the auction expert and I am wrong about tons of things every day but I am not wrong here. I do hope I am proven wrong because I think the world of G.
Shane,
I agree with everything you said and the inventory part is a huge obstacle to over come which is why I believe he needs to add at least 3C, 4L, 5N and probably 4C domains. If I were the one taking on this challenge I would want the opinion of those in the industry who I trust like yourself. Lets hope we are both wrong and he is successful.
Cheers
What’s your vertical jump again?

Thank you Shane, I do appreciate and value your constructive feedback! And thank you Ken for the nice words – your suggestion has been noted 🙂
